Celebrating Canadian Artists

The Gallery on the Lake is celebrating its 17th year of operation this year and will be showcasing an incredible line-up of world class art to help Canada celebrate its 150th birthday.

Opening July 1st is the most noteworthy event, a group show, entitled “Celebrating Canadian Artists!” This exhibit will showcase amazing artwork, including sculptures, by our very best artists and will continue through to July 28th. This event also provides a fantastic opportunity to meet many of the artists in person.

With over 25 artists participating in this group show it is a first of its kind for the Gallery on the Lake! The Gallery puts the ART in the KawARThas with the best selection of original fine art, by several of Canada’s best artists.

Below is a quote from Tony Batten, chosen to provide paintings for the Canadian Government in honour of the sesquicentennial!

“My project involving Canada’s Houses of Parliament now has two large works on canvas in the collection of the Senate. In addition to that I have completed two large canvases of the House of Commons.  So, I have entered two significant national collections as the year gets moving. Needless to say I am delighted. I still have to create two large images of the spectacular Parliamentary Library for its own collection.”

As Canada’s largest retail art gallery, and voted one of the most beautiful galleries in Ontario by Days Out Ontario, the Gallery on the Lake provides a wonderful opportunity to capture Canada’s 150th birthday in a lasting piece of art.

Whether you are visiting cottage country or own property in the area, you will agree that the Kawartha’s provide a remarkable setting to make incredible “Canada 150 Memories.” Most of us capture these memories with some great stories and photographs of our time spent on the water, in the wildness, or with family and friends, and the Gallery on the Lake is providing visitors with another means of preserving those incredible memories with its world class collection of art.
