Cottage Country Connection is a free publication. Founded in 1994 in Bridgenorth, it was originally named “Causeway Connection” and later known as “The Connection.”
Under new ownership in January 2014, the paper expanded their readership to include the regions from Peterborough to Haliburton and from Fenelon Falls to Campbellford and re-branded as “Cottage Country Connection.”
Initially a newsprint, tabloid; the publication moved to a full gloss magazine format suitable for coffee table display in May 2016.

Nine issues per year are produced – monthly from March through August and bi-monthly from September through February. With a readership per issue of 102,000, calculated at 17,000 printed copies at 6 readers per copy (per stats can 2016), the publication delivers just under 12,000 copies via Canada Post Neighborhood Mail plus approximately 650 pieces by addressed mail, and the remainder are distributed to advertiser and pick up locations.
Distribution to businesses from Peterborough to Haliburton and from Fenelon Falls to Campbellford and to homes, farms and businesses in Bridgenorth, Ennismore, Lakefield, Clear Lake, Stony Lake, Woodview, Young’s Point, Buckhorn and a portion of Douro-Dummer. In November of 2016 the magazine added the Bobcaygeon R4 region to its home delivery by mail and additional pick up locations in Bobcaygeon as well. The publication also boasts over 100 pick up locations throughout the region.

Founding Partner, President and Editor Donna Matthews and her sales and social media team reach out to cottage country businesses and individuals, to share interesting stories and insights, on topics that fare well with a cup of coffee on the dock or snuggled up on the couch for a relaxing read.

In 2016 the publication received the Kawartha Chamber Award of Excellence for Entrepreneur Innovation and a nomination for Tourism & Hospitality.
In 2015 Cottage Country Connection received the Peterborough Chamber Marketing & Promotion Award of Excellence and they were also a finalist for the Kawartha Chamber’s Tourism & Hospitality Business Excellence category.
