AGM 2021 Recap

I was a little worried our first Virtual AGM was going to have tech issues… But I’m not surprised this meeting went so smoothly with our amazing team at the helm.

February 17, 2021 the Kawartha Chamber of Commerce and Tourism held our first-ever virtual Annual General Meeting over Zoom. Adapting during COVID-19 has been a difficult task for many people, businesses and organizations and the Kawartha Chamber is no exception. Many hours of work were poured into figuring out how to recreate the AGM, typically an evening of socializing between members, in a virtual format. For this reason, we are so thankful to the over 65 members in attendance for joining us and helping the night run smoothly!

Our night began with some lighthearted welcomes and trivia to test out the polling feature that would be used to pass motions throughout the meeting. Our Board President Tracy Logan lead the meeting.

Despite the difficult year, we had many highlights throughout 2019 & 2020 to celebrate!  This includes the success of our Kudos Kawartha Biz Campaign that had over 9000 page reaches and recognized over 300 businesses! As well as our Virtual Mainstreet Initiative which sold over 200 gift certificates and benefited 35 businesses. Click here to see the full report!

The Chamber welcomed our 2021/2022 Board, including new Board President, Jillian Harrington who was the recipient of our Young Professional Award in 2019! We were honoured to have Peterborough County Warden and Mayor of Douro-Dummer, J. Murray Jones, in attendance to conduct the swearing-in ceremony with Jilian and 1st Vice President, Mary Brown. Some heartfelt words were exchanged between our new President and our outgoing President Tracy Logan. Click here to read Tracy’s Outgoing President’s Notes. See the full slate below,
