Happy 149th Birthday Canada!
This July 1st, there are many opportunities to celebrate Canada Day throughout the Kawarthas!
Apsley is hosting their annual Canada Day Parade beginning at 4 pm. The parade begins at the Apsley Public School and travels to the North Kawartha Community Centre. The celebration will continue afterwards at NKCC with a bouncy castle, games, music and the Apsley Lions BBQ. Starting at dusk, the fireworks show will begin to end the day with a bang!
Buckhorn will also be hosting a day of fun for Canada Day, with a list of activities. From 10 am to 4 pm at the Buckhorn Community Centre there will be a petting zoo, jugglers, vendors, carnival games, pony rides, clowns, pottery, and more! Weather permitting, a BBQ and classic car show will start at 6 pm, followed by a free family movie at 7 pm. Later on, to end the day of celebration, fireworks will light off at 10 pm.
Start your Canada Day celebration in Lakefield at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 77 beginning at 1 pm. Activities will include: live entertainment from the Chandos Burleigh Band, Terry King and karaoke! There will also be a food booth, face painting, a jumping castle, and candy floss. New in Lakefield this year – Canada Day Celebrations are planned for Isabel Morris Park beginning at 5 pm. Festivities will include artisans, music, food, kids’ games, petting zoo, and fireworks. Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets.
