The recipient of the Kawartha Chamber’s 2019 Customer Service Excellence Award is Home Suite Home Transitions!
Their services for seniors include downsizing, decluttering, packing, unpacking and sale and/or
donation of possessions which may include an online auction. The idea of letting go of these
items can be mentally draining. Guiding overwhelmed clients requires training, respect, tact,
patience, and a sense of humour. “They provide empathetic and understanding service to
seniors at a time when they are vulnerable and need a trusting advocate,” says the nominator. (more…)
The recipient of the Outstanding Business Achievement Award is Central Smith.
Originating as a farmers’ coop in 1896, this family run operation has steadily worked for 40 years at becoming Canada’s leading food-service ice cream manufacturer. Producing 273 SKUs they provide ice cream to two of Canada’s largest food distribution networks; and supply the majority of Canada’s chain restaurants, nursing homes and hospitals. With over 50 employees, the average length of employment is 16 years. Their nominator says, “We truly believe they are quiet heroes of our region.” (more…)
