President’s Notes Fall 2021

As I listen to laughter and look outside, I see that the colours on the trees are beginning to change. With the joy and excitement that summer brings, the arrival of fall often brings with it a sense of peace.  I hope you have all had a busy and fruitful summer, while squeezing in a little time to relax and spend with those you love.

Once the summer sun hits, we the Board of Directors, take a short break allowing everyone to stay business focused during the high season, while we continue our positions of support and chamber work.

We are thrilled that the nomination numbers for our Awards of Excellence this year was the highest ever – 151 nominations in ten categories! Although we are only able to recognize a few businesses during this event; we would like to congratulate all of our local businesses on surviving and thriving, especially over these last couple of years. We see you and all your hard work and dedication to make sure our community remains so strong. Thank you! See List of Finalists

Our chamber represents our incredible community of businesses and as you are aware members were in favour of expanding that network by joining forces with the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce. We appreciate all of your continued support as we work toward building a stronger Chamber. If you would like to help shape the future, please share your thoughts on Governance, Communications, Operations, Events, and Finance, with Chamber staff.

If you need just a break away from the day-to-day rush, or are looking for information on specific topics, check out the webinars offered in our weekly, Tuesday morning NewsFlash to help keep you informed or check out our social media platforms for tips, Member of the Month posts and other updates! The Chamber is always working on #KeepingYouUpdated.

As the breeze crosses the lake and I think about all of the beauty that surrounds us, I feel a great deal of gratitude. Now more then ever it is important to take a moment and look at our networks of support from friends, family and our businesses community. It always puts a smile on my face when I see how supportive we all are of each other. We shop local, eat local, buy local and always offer each other a helping hand when needed. These are things that make us special, and these are what will ensure our amazing community and businesses survive and thrive. Please, continue being you, supporting one another and working hard, because together we are stronger. I also ask, that you take a minute to breathe, sip coffee or apple cider, look at the nature that surrounds you and enjoy some of the radiant colours and crisp fall air we have the privilege to experience.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. – Nelson Mandela

Until then, stay safe, stay well and keep smiling!
