President’s Notes – Spring 2021

Spring is definitely in the air, giving us some warm weather to enjoy and a little more pep in our step. Although, the last year has had its fair share of uncertainties, one thing has remained steady and that is the incredible support of our businesses and the community as a whole. We may be a region made up of smaller groups but together we show great strength as a whole.


Federal Government to Tax Employer Contributions

As you may have read in the Chamber’s January 24th NewsFlash, the Federal Government is considering taxing employer contributions paid into group benefit plans. Although they have not yet confirmed their intention to proceed with this measure, and details have yet to be disclosed, the insurance industry and advocacy groups have reason to believe it’s more than a possibility and will be announced with the Liberal’s Spring 2017 Federal Budget. Hello again everyone and welcome to the December/January Newsletter!

Let’s start with “Merry Christmas” – it’s approaching fast and we have already celebrated the Santa Claus Parades in Apsley, Lakefield and Warsaw as well as Christmas in the Village, Holiday House Tour in Lakefield, and the Buckhorn Holiday Home Tour.  (more…)
